In order to allow the railway transport of ore from the Cassinga mining complex to the port of Saco-Mar, Somafel started working on the project to build the Cassinga Branch Line in 1966.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This branch starts on the Mo\u00e7\u00e2medes Line, which connects the provinces of Namibe and Menongue. The construction was divided into two sections: the first one between Caseta and Jamina, with a total length of 96 km, and the second one between km 22 and Tchamina, with a total length of 17 km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
