Project Objectives <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1. Refurbishment of 285 km of Tracks, for an operating speed of 220 km\/h\n2. Installation of 150 switches and crossings\n3. Refurbishment of 335 km of 25KV\/ 50Hz Overhead Lines, for an operating speed of 220 km\/h<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Descri<\/span><\/span>ption<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The North Line runs along a large coastal corridor (North-South Corridor), which covers the main ports, airports, logistics platforms and towns on the Portuguese Coast. Most of the population, economic activities and employment are concentrated on this corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The modernization project aimed to reduce the travel time between Lisbon and Porto, ensuring greater safety, comfort and reliability and reducing the operating costs of the country\u2019s main railway infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This megaproject was subdivided into sections involving similar works. SOMAFEL, with a 60% stake in Joint Venture, was awarded 5 of these basic sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
