<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the modernization project of the Beira Alta Railway Line between Guarda and Vilar Formoso, this contract is an integral part of the North International Corridor, one of the priority projects of the Strategic Plan for Transport and Infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contract consisted of modernizing approximately 30 km of railway track on the existing Beira Alta Line corridor, specifically between Cerdeira and Vilar Formoso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work carried out by Somafel involved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Complete replacement of the track superstructure: to correct existing defects in the track and renew the superstructure along the section;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Sanitation and stabilization of the track platform: where necessary, to ensure the maximum load for the line;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Increase in the useful length of stations: to allow the circulation of 750m freight trains;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Adaptation of fixed electrical traction infrastructure: to the changes introduced in the layout and stations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Construction of a new traction current return system, earthing and protection;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Adaptation of support infrastructures for the new Signaling and Telecommunications system;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Removal of level crossings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
