Railway Maintenance

In order to ensure railway performance according to the design specifications, all railways must undergo a continuous maintenance process. In this process we take preventive and condition-based actions, but we also may have to take corrective measures. Only railways with level maintenance routines assure high service standards.

Railway maintenance has become one of SOMAFEL’s most important activities, dating back to 1974 and, since then, it has been working almost continuously in the Portuguese Conventional Railway Network.

SOMAFEL started providing overhead line maintenance services in 2004, covering the conventional railway network and urban surface light rail networks.
