Project Objectives 

Refurbishment of 1280 km of Track.

Description

In this project for the full refurbishment of the Portuguese Railway Network, awarded to a Portuguese-French Consortium led by SOMAFEL, 1280 km of track were refurbished, reaching a daily output of around 2000 linear metres in two simultaneous work fronts.

This project allowed the introduction in Portugal of cutting edge mechanized track refurbishment technology, mainly:

Track replacement and grading wagons, 12CB8 Ballast Cleaner; BNRI 80 and BNRI 85 Tamping Machines and Ballast graders.
