The “Modernization of the Southern Line in the Ermidas – Grândola North section”, promoted by Infraestruturas de Portugal S.A., aligns with the provisions of the Strategic Plan for Transport and Infrastructure regarding interventions planned for the Southern International Corridor.
The interventions associated with the “Southern International Corridor” aim to establish a direct, interoperable, and intermodal connection between the ports in the south of Portugal, namely the Port of Sines, the Port of Setúbal, and the Port of Lisbon, and the Spanish border (Caia / Badajoz). This global project is part of the pre-identified “Sines-Lisboa-Madrid” section of the Atlantic Corridor.
