Metro construction is usually associated with a closed network integrated in a dense urban structure. This kind of construction can be divided into two major groups: Heavy Underground Metro Systems and Surface Light Rail Systems.
The electrification of these two systems also differs. The underground system is powered by a third rail power distribution system, while the surface system is powered by an overhead line system.
