Central shipyard modernization – Oliveirinha

To optimize energy, environmental, and economic performance, SOMAFEL has continued its plan to renovate the structures and equipment of its Central Rail Facility in Oliveirinha. Five improvement measures are planned, namely:

• Replacement of existing window frames with new ones and improvement of the solar characteristics of the glass;
• Replacement of luminaires with LEDs;
• Replacement of air conditioning systems with semi-centralized systems;
• Replacement of the currently installed equipment, compressor, with another one with higher energy efficiency;
• Increase in energy production capacity through the installation of a photovoltaic solar system connected to the electricity grid.

This investment is currently underway and is being made under the PRR – Support for the Renovation and Increase of Energy Performance of Service Buildings.
With this measure, a reduction in primary energy consumption of over 90% is expected.
