Description

In order to allow the railway transport of ore from the Cassinga mining complex to the port of Saco-Mar, Somafel started working on the project to build the Cassinga Branch Line in 1966.

This branch starts on the Moçâmedes Line, which connects the provinces of Namibe and Menongue. The construction was divided into two sections: the first one between Caseta and Jamina, with a total length of 96 km, and the second one between km 22 and Tchamina, with a total length of 17 km.
