The South Line is the second most important Railway Infrastructure in Portugal, linking Lisbon to Tunes, and from there through the Algarve Line, to Faro.
The modernization project aimed to reduce the travel time between Lisbon and the Algarve, increasing the safety and comfort of Alfa Pendular trains and creating the necessary requirements for their operation.
This mega project was divided into basic sections involving different works, according to the existing features. SOMAFEL was awarded a number of these sections and was key to the successful completion of the project.
